The Scout Section is for young people, usually aged between 10 and 14 years. A young person can come in to the Troop at 10 and may stay until they are 14 years 6 months old.
The Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities. In Scouts there are a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges. The Scouts have a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes. The Scouts spend a lot of time outside doing activities. They learn all the traditional Scouting Skills. They learn most of their skills on camps. The scouts will camp out learning about outdoor survival and cooking. Not only do they learn camping and survival skills they also take part in a wide range of activities.

The Scout uniform is a teal green shirt and the groups necker. Within the Scout section there are many activity and challenge badges you can earn. These badges are sewn on to the shirt
The Scout leader will advise you when you will be required to obtain the uniform. Both the shirt and necker are available from the Reading Scout and Guide shop on Northcourt Avenue.
